Chagall: I and The Village

1. Write five 'dreamlike' elements that you see in the painting.
2. Next, students completed a handout that asked them to recall their youngest memories - a favorite toy, their house, a favorite snack, etc.
3. Using these written responses, students created paintings using oil pasteland watercolor in the style of Chagall.

Trash/junk art

Topic: One man's trash is another man's treasure

Students explore various "junk art" and create an art piece out of recyclable materials. Ask students to bring in as many recyclable objects they can prior to the lesson: milk cartons, plastic, cans, cardboard boxes,

paper towel rolls, etc.

Show your students those 40 works of art made from common trash: here

Show them this video and explain what is The Heidelberg Project.

Make your students acquainted with Tim Noble and Sue Webster "Shadow Art".

Open-ended discussion questions:

1. What is going on in this picture?
2. What do you see that makes you think that?
3. What more can we find?
